Basic Gameplay

Tetrarch is a storytelling roleplaying game. Players create and interact within a story told by one player the weaver, and that is played through by other players' characters. In a roleplaying game, characters utilize a system that dictates the results of the characters' actions. In tetrarch, cards are used to produce a score called an FS to beat a set score by the weaver. Will the menkha make the shot from over 500 yards? Did the blade hit a vital organ, causing a disfigurement to the anubi? The system makes the call. When a player tests fate, they utilize the system.

The weaver (GM)

The weaver (game master) tells the story the characters act in. The weaver runs the game for the players. Describing the events of the scene, what takes place, and runs the mechanical aspect of the game.

Storytelling

Humanity has been telling stories since before we learned to speak. In a roleplaying game, players tell a story of adventure and peril that the other players' experience and playthrough.

Scenes

The game is played out in scenes like in a movie or play. Characters play in the scene uncovering the plot and moving through the story. A scene comes in two main varieties, combat, and skill scenes. Both types of scenes contain their own dangers.

The player creates and acts as a character in the game. An immovable protector holding the line, a reaper operative ambushing the villain, or a magi changing the world around them through magic are some of the many possibilities.

The Character

Players' characters are avatars of the player in the world. The characters have in-game stats represented by talents and skills. Each character has a species, profession, origin, and customized deck.

What is a motion

The main action mechanic, a motion, is when a player describes their actions to the weaver and casts their fate score to see the results. Benben dives over the bar, spraying the room with gunfire, as rolls into cover, and reloads his magazine.
